A long-sleeved shirt is an excellent choice for many sports: as a base layer in winter or worn on its own in the transitional seasons. But cold weather isn't the only reason why a long-sleeved shirt for men is a good choice. For example, shirts with sun protection protect you from strong sunlight.

Long-sleeved shirts for men are popular in every season and for every sport. They are indispensable for hiking, climbing, bouldering, biking, or trekking. Unlike a T-shirt, a typical long-sleeved shirt for men naturally has long sleeves. Depending on the use and requirements, it can be equipped with different neckline shapes.

• Crewneck long sleeve – round, close-fitting crew neck, the typical base layer model

Functional shirts make outdoor life easier

It's all about the combination! Depending on which fibers are combined, your new long-sleeved shirt for men can support you. Cotton is absorbent but dries slowly. Soft merino wool is great, often combined with the advantages of other fibers that provide breathability, elasticity, and quick drying. Stop-and-go sports require a different material than sweat-inducing sports. Polyester usually offers the greatest advantages here and is often combined with another fiber for a specific purpose.

Tight-fitting or loose? A question of activity

In your free time, you'll probably prefer something comfortable and casual. Then your long-sleeved shirt should also be cut a little wider. However, it's a completely different story when the shirt is worn as a base layer. Too much fabric would be a hindrance here. The fit must be close-fitting for a base layer. A good long-sleeved shirt made of functional material can certainly replace functional underwear. To do this, however, it must lie flat against the skin so that evaporating body moisture can be reliably wicked away.

There are special tailored cuts for men. The shoulders are naturally cut a little narrower and the sleeves are not quite as long as for men.
