Rain cover: reliable protection for your backpack

Many backpacks are already made from robust and water-repellent material – but not all of them can withstand prolonged or heavy rain. If your backpack is not made from completely waterproof material, you can protect it reliably from moisture with a rain cover. Many backpacks already have a rain cover integrated into the bottom compartment, but you can also buy one separately. Depending on the backpack model, rain covers are available in numerous sizes and colors, from universal rain covers to rain protection specially tailored to your backpack.

Rain cover: lightweight and waterproof

Rain covers are a practical accessory if you get caught in a heavy rain shower, for example on trekking tours or other trips into nature. It is important that the rain cover fits your backpack perfectly so that it can reliably protect it from moisture.

  • You can recognize a good rain cover by the following features:
  • It is made of a waterproof, thin, yet robust material that does not tear easily.
  • The rain cover is very light and can be folded up to save space.
  • Some rain covers have an elastic band around the edge, which makes it easy to pull the cover over your backpack and secure it tightly.
  • Backpack rain covers are also available with snap fasteners, drawstrings, or zippers.
  • Thanks to the different sizes available, rain covers fit almost every backpack model.
  • An integrated strap allows you to attach the rain cover to your backpack when you're not using it.
  • A practical packing bag serves as a safe storage place for the rain cover in your backpack or at home when you are not traveling with your backpack.

Effective backpack rain protection

If you want to protect sensitive equipment in your backpack from moisture or keep your clothes dry on a trekking tour, a good rain cover is an absolute must. This cover provides optimal protection for the contents of your backpack. Even if your backpack is made of water-repellent material, only a waterproof rain cover can guarantee that no water will penetrate the inside of your backpack, even in heavy rain.

You can use the rain cover for all outdoor activities where you take your backpack with you. But you can also use a rain cover to protect your normal everyday backpack, because you never know when the next downpour will catch you. Conveniently, most covers can be folded up very small and handy, so they can always be carried in any bag.
