Propane ensures that gas stoves work even at sub-zero temperatures, as it has a lower boiling point than butane, which no longer produces combustible gases below -0.5°C. Optimus camping gas is an ideal mixture of both gases with added isobutane. This gas burns even at temperatures below zero degrees.
