Tents for groups and families

Some tents are large enough to comfortably accommodate an entire family or group of people. These family tents or group tents are available in various designs, depending on the number of people and desired features. You can find a wide range of models for a variety of uses, from family camping to group tours, in the Transa online shop.

Types of family tents and group tents

Large tents for families and groups are available in several different designs. The different types of family tents or group tents each offer their own advantages.

  • Teepee tent: This popular round tent with a pointed gable creates a great atmosphere, especially when camping with children.
  • Tunnel tent: Thanks to their modern, comfortable design, these rather elongated tents are comparatively light and practical.
  • Dome tent: The special construction of a dome tent offers plenty of space; in addition, these tents are quite easy to set up.
  • Yurt: You can usually stand upright in these large tents with vertical outer walls, and they are also suitable for larger groups.

What to look for when buying a family tent

When camping with the whole family, you need enough space for sleeping and luggage. In addition, it should be neither too cold nor too warm in the tent at night. That's why you should choose your new camping tent for the family so that it meets the most important requirements.

  • Size: From a 4-person tent to a large family tent for 6 people, you should choose the right size for your needs. A larger tent offers more space, but also adds to the weight of your luggage.
  • Weather protection: In summer, good ventilation is important, especially if 4 or more people are sleeping in the tent. The material should also protect against rain. In winter, additional insulation or stronger materials are useful.
  • Features: Depending on your individual needs, you should also look for special features when buying a tent, such as an awning for luggage, a sun canopy, an inner tent, mosquito protection, or ventilation openings.

Group tents for special purposes

Some tents offer more uses than just a sheltered place to sleep. A spacious yurt, which is even high enough to stand up in, can accommodate up to twelve people for weather-protected group activities. It can also sleep up to six people. The high ceiling in particular makes it feel less cramped than a small tent. Large teepee tents for six people, with their high, spacious interior, are ideal for glamping.
