What are the differences?

There are a variety of different pegs that are suitable for different purposes.

Standard pegs

Tent pegs for loose soil

If the ground is very sandy or even covered with a thick layer of snow, special sand or snow pegs are used – usually made of plastic. Their large contact surface ensures that the peg holds well even in loose snow or sand.

Ground nails for hard ground

This type of tent peg is mainly used for marquees, but ground nails are also sometimes used for trekking or camping. This is always the case when the ground is really hard and the peg has to be hammered into the ground like a nail. Ground nails look like real nails, and their special shape prevents the peg from bending when hammered in.

Press, screw, hammer, or knock

You can either simply press the pegs into the ground by hand or screw them in, hammer them in, or sink them into small crevices.
